Looks like they need to do it each Petit Le Mans or maybe a longer lasting re-surface job.

It is probably just age finally getting to that portion of the track. The cars get really loaded right there after cresting the hill at turn 3 which really beats the hell out of the surface.

Figured it out. They were just showing some slow-mo from turn 3. The GT cars are getting up unto 2 wheels when they hit the curb. Then when the car loads up after the corner it compresses the left side suspension, driving the left skirt and left side of the splitter into the ground.

I’m guessing there’s a some repaving going to be done in the offseason there. Maybe a concrete patch.
